Buddhism and Jainism are very close. But whereas buddhism preaches the middle way, jainism preaches the ascetic way.



Mahavir. The last of the 24 Thirtankars and foundator of Jainism. He lived contemporarily to the buddha in the same area. That's why many Jain holy places are also Buddhist places.
